- Incorporation eliminates protection of farming and agricultural activities provided by the state of SC. (See G.S. 46-45-60).
- State protections for farming and agricultural activities do not apply within municipal limits. Incorporating rural farmland jeopardizes the livelihood of countless farmers and livestock owners, and it encourages the conversion of farm land to urban developed land. This unintended consequence of incorporation contradicts VTOIL’s claim that incorporating rural areas will control development. (See G.S. 46-45-60).
